General Information - Objectives

The desired effect of the GERMAN CONGRESS ON CRIME PREVENTION is to present and strengthen crime prevention within a broad societal framework. Thus it contributes to crime reduction as well as to the prevention and the decrease of becoming a victim and fear of crime. Being an annually organized congress, the main objectives of the GERMAN CONGRESS ON CRIME PREVENTION are:

  • Presenting and exchanging current and basic questions of crime prevention and its effectiveness 
  • Bringing together partners within the field of crime prevention
  • Functioning as a forum for the practice and fostering exchange of experiences
  • Helping to get into contact at the international level and to exchange information
  • Discussing implementation strategies
  • Developing and disseminating recommendations for the practice, politics, administration and research

So far the following congresses took place:

3. German Congress on Crime Prevention, 1997 in Bonn
4. German Congress on Crime Prevention, 1998 in Bonn
5. German Congress on Crime Prevention, 1999 in Hoyerswerda
6. German Congress on Crime Prevention, 2000 in Düsseldorf
7. German Congress on Crime Prevention, 2001 in Düsseldorf
8. German Congress on Crime Prevention, 2003 in Hannover
9. German Congress on Crime Prevention, 2004 in Stuttgart
10. German Congress on Crime Prevention, 2005 in Hannover
11. German Congress on Crime Prevention, 2006 in Nuremberg
12. German Congress on Crime Prevention, 2007 in Wiesbaden
